A WEEKEND BY THE SEA.

If there’s one thing to know about us east coasters, it’s that the glimpse of nice weather and were out in t-shirts, even if the temperature is only a little above 60 degrees. So I bundled up with my favorite over-sized cardigan and made my way to the beach.

A beach town in central New Jersey, it was the perfect time to take a weekend trip to my hometown and get some family time. My mom loves playing with her camera, so when I brought up the idea to spend the day by the beach she was thrilled. No matter the weather, beaches are the perfect backdrop for any photo. I also tagged some sweaters like mine below! Perfect for spring.

I got this sweater from Nasty Gal last season. Some similar ones are here, here, here and here.

Minimal Staples

Commuting through the greatest city in the world you can’t help but people watch. It’s honestly one of my favorite parts of “waking up” every morning. I get so inspired by the people walking around me, and so does my wardrobe. It’s also the perfect place to scope out trends. Lately I’ve noticed quite a few people wearing long coats (gray, black, navy, camel), round sunnies (I see you Ray Ban), black skinnies (of course), the season long trend of white sneakers, or your typical black booties, and recently, backpacks with the big, rectangular flaps. Sometimes, I’ve noticed a pair of jeans in place of the black skinnies. This look is so effortless and minimal. What I love the most about it is every single piece below is a classic staple for your closet. A great investment.

Zara Sale

Zara has an unbelievable sale going on! I’ve already snagged a few pieces. Depending on your style, I laid out some more of my favorite pieces (as I’m sitting here trying to have some self control and not buy everything.) The best part is, this isn’t even a chunk of what they have for sale. There is SO much to choose from!

This White & Warren travel wrap is the softest thing I’ve ever owned. I have to admit, it’s probably the most expensive thing I’ve purchased, and I even snagged it at a sample sale! I’m not one to buy pricey things, and I surprisingly didn’t have purchase guilt after buying this one. I only invest in things that I know I’m going to wear super often. & I imagine living in this wrap all winter. Side note, I love this all black minimal look: leather jacket, leggings, and some Nike’s. Perfect.

Mustard yellow is the color to wear this fall, and I am feelin’ this H&M sweater for $25. & guess what? I got this skater skirt from there for $5! I’m always looking to reuse clothes throughout the seasons. I wanted to experiment transitioning a skater skirt from warm to cold weather. I love this look with high socks & I couldn’t waittt to break out my mom’s boots that she graciously passed down to me. Another idea? Pair the skirt with that over-the-knee boot trend.

I’ve had this breathtaking necklace bib since the beginning of summer & I’m not sure why it took this long for me to share it on here. I found it at one of my favorite boutiques in Manasquan, NJ called Rare Cargo. I love supporting local businesses & a lot of the times they’ll have one-of-a-kind pieces that you can’t find anywhere else. The spikes on it give off a little #GOT flare, don’t you think?  I think these necklaces look best with an otherwise minimal outfit. I also love pairing this beaut with a simple white-tee.

I love the idea of an all white outfit. Leave it to me to wait until the end of the summer to throw one together. I actually wanted to keep my outfit minimal to really show off this jacket. For the fall, I wear it almost every day since it’s so lightweight and the army green screams this season. I highly recommend investing in one of these. Since the material is so light, you can find a good one for only $40. I found one on Tilly’s that is almost identical. Links below!

I’m the first one to jump on an Urban Outfitters sale. Maybe it’s because I have to pass by one on my way home every night. Anyway, I snagged this striped dress on sale for $20 (originally $99!). I hate to even wrap my head around the idea of summer ending, but I found myself looking for things that are transitional into fall. Gasp. I love the cut of this dress, the boxiness of the shoulders and the flap in the front make it so unique. For me, I’m always looking for pieces that I can wear from work to play, and I can easily do that with a quick shoe change in this dress.
