My Favorite Books From 2017

 

One of my favorite hobbies? Sitting on the subway, reading a book. It’s a nice escape for me. Something just feels good reading about someone else’s life and problems, even if its fiction. Anyway, I’ve read many good books and I want to share the love with you all.. these are my favorite books I’ve read in 2017.

 

Where We Belong: A Novel by Emily Griffin

A New York City television producer is living the dream. Until she finds someone on her doorstep that will turn her world upside down.

 

What Remains: A Memoir of Fate, Friendship, and Love by Carole Radziwill

Writer and RHONY star, Carole Radziwill’s “What Remains” is a memoir of her earlier life. From growing up in Upstate New York to watching her become a successful journalist (and princess), in the end she ends up dealing with more tragedy and loss than the average person can bear.

 

Champagne Supernovas by Maureen Callahan

When my friend recommended this book to me, I was eternally grateful. From the glamour and darkness of the fashion industry in New York City in the 90’s, this book hones in on the rise of Kate Moss, Marc Jacobs and Alexander McQueen’s careers.

 

Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan

A national bestseller, this book is one of my all time favorites. Something so different than what I usually read. A New Yorker visits her boyfriend’s wealthy and very traditional Chinese family. You learn so much about the Chinese culture, all while reading about a dramatic twenty-something love story. So good, you guys.

 

China Rich Girlfriend by Kevin Kwan

So Kevin Kwan made a sequel to Crazy Rich Asians, called China Rich Girlfriend. I don’t want to give anything away, just read this after the first one. You won’t be disappointed!

 

The Girls: A Novel by Emma Cline

Based in Northern California in the 1960s. Eerily similar to the Manson Family, a young teenager ends up joining a cult.

 

Sweetbitter by Stephanie Danler

An Ohio girl makes her way to the big city in hopes of turning her life around. In NYC, she becomes a waitress, gets herself in a love triangle and learns about endless food and wine.

 

The Magnolia Story by Chip and Joanna Gaines

One of my guilty pleasures? HGTV. Based on the hit renovation show, Fixer Upper, Chip and Joanna tell their story of how they built their family and business.

 

Small Great Things: A Novel by Jodi Picoult

Out of all the books I’ve chosen to read, this one is the darkest and realist. Based around the realities of racism, this book starts with a nurse making the choice between saving a babies life and losing her job.

 

Into the Water: A Novel by Paula Hawkins

Love murder mysteries? This book is for you. Based in a small town where women wind up floating in the river, a single mother who has been investigating these disappearances ends up in the river herself.
